How to Get Your Blog Noticed: Free Marketing Strategies for the Beginning Blogger

Blogging daily is all well and good as a great way to make money online, but if you haven't learned how to get your blog noticed, then you're wasting valuable time.

Honestly, most people who are hugely successful with blogging for income are actually using paid marketing strategies. Even SEO is paid, once you pay for the tools and the time it takes to rank a blog post.

But before you hang up on the idea of ways to get your blog noticed just yet, I'd like to introduce to you some creative marketing ideas for how to get people to notice your blog.

I've recently made two sales back-to-back within a 2-day span - and all with free marketing. The idea, of course, is to use the commissions you make on free marketing and put into paid strategies to ramp up your sales. After all, this is a business, and you DO need to spend money to make money with any business.

But since I've had a little success, I'd like to pass along my marketing ideas to you...

1) Begin with the right on-page SEO strategies.

Before I even begin to blog, I go to 'AdWords.Google.com' and enter in a 3-4 word phase that has to do with the subject you want to frame your blog post around. Keep in mind that the longer, the phrase, the more laser targeted, and the greater potential of reaching a buying customer.

Also, "long-tail" keyword phrases are most likely to be ranking on Google. Of course, pick a phrase with low competition for the best chances of ranking.

Make sure this "focus phrase" is mentioned throughout your post, especially in the title, first sentence, last sentence, and a few of the headings.

And here's a little secret for knowing the best topics get people to notice your blog...
If you're not sure what to blog about, you might want to go to 'alexa.com'. This is a site that was created in the '60's as a way of "grading" websites for popularity. Google ranks on popularity and relevancy. I just mentioned above how to make your site "relevant" by putting in your keyword phase.

You begin to make sure it has popularity potential by clicking on the "blog" tab in the free Alexa site, and then clicking on "industry and company trends".

You can see which websites are the most popular by clicking the "tools" tab and then "top sites". You'll notice that the lower the score, the more popular the site. This is also a great way to keeping tabs on your competitors.

In a nutshell, I've found that more people are drawn to true inspirational stories and news that might be relevant to your marketing niche.

2) Quality backlinks is another way of helping to rank your blog post.

Making the post relevant is easy; making it popular takes a little time and persistence. It's advisable to create similar contact and put into other sites. If you create a YouTube, then put your blog permalink in the YouTube description, so the YouTube video will be "pointing" to your blog.

I also like to use the Ezine article directory as an authority site because Ezines has a high PR (page rank), which gives good SEO juice to your blog post. Make sure you link to your post in your Ezine article.

Just as a side-note, Ezine also has a "performance" tab so you can actually get a free way to track your progress - see how many people are reading which articles, and what your "click-through-rate" is (how many people are clicking on your offer). This is a great marketing tool to help you learn.

The idea is to have as many quality links as possible pointing to your blog post - which makes it "popular".

3) Viral marketing.

Another thing that Google now ranks popularity on is viral popularity. Therefore, as soon as you post, you'll also want to submit to as many viral media sites as possible... Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are the main ones.

On Facebook, it's wise to join groups that are related to the interest of your blog content. For example, I might want to syndicate a post related to "how to get your blog noticed" in blogging groups on Facebook. This way, you can assure that you're reaching a laser targeted audience, and that has potential to receiving laser target leads.

And, of course, the more targeted your leads, the greater the potential that they're feeling their credit card getting hot in their pocket, and they're ready to buy.
